Need Help with selecting a Transmission
Hello Guys, I have a 94 1500 that I got from a friend for real cheap! ( FREE) .
He started doing an engine swap and currently has a 97 5.7 out of a suburban that has been carburated. However it has no transmission. I've thought about installing a 700r4 in it. My questions are, Can I just installed any 700r4 or is there a specific year or model. Is there a better transmission that I could use instead of the 770r4 base on cost and ease of installation. This truck has all the computer electronics removed so it's like goin back to old school. I want to go the cheapest and easiest route. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well i put it to you like this, I had a 92 that I put a GM 350 small block crate motor into with a 700r4 tranny. I am not taking anything away from it but the transmission does not handle like a 4l60s transmissions. They are both good transmissions, but the 4l60s just seem to have a much more solid shift and a more sturdy feel to it.
