Default Tuner

I know this topic has been discussed several times already but I want some advice for my truck in particular. I'm looking to get a plug in tuner but don't know what to get. I have a 2001 silverado 1500 4x4. I did a 5.3 swap and got a computer built by Howell efi. It's lifted a total of 12" with 35's but has stock 3.73 gearing. I have long tube headers with a 3" off-road y-pipe, hollowed out cats, and a flow master super 44 muffler. It has a cold air intake as well. Obviously at this point I'm not too concerned about gaining fuel mileage but what I do want is more power. I'm not looking to doing a cam or anything but I just want to know what kind of tuner would be best for my truck to help me gain a little more power.

Gears and a tune would help a whole lot. I have basically the same truck. Blackbear auto cal seems to be your best bet

What size gears do you recommend? I don't want my engine screaming on the highway. Also I really just want a plug-in tune because I want to enable to change my speed limiter by myself and be able to change the tune on the fly bc I'm going to get a nitrous kit

With 35s I'd do at least 4.56. I went 4.88s with my 35s and at 65-70 I'm runnin 2100 rpm's. Not screamin by any means. And I know the plug and play sounds good and all but they don't do anything for you. Tried em all and went with a custom tune. Much much better power and mpg wise. The autocal from blackbear is a plug and play deal essentially. They can load 3 tunes on it for you then you can switch them, although it's not like they tune it right then and there. You log your driving, send it to them, they tune it, then send it back. Takes a week or so all together because of how busy they are

Well I decided to go with 4.88's. They'll be coming tomorrow. I was doing some thinking and was wondering if it would be worth putting in a locker while I have the rear apart. Any opinions?

Well I didn't end up going with the locker but the gears are in and what a difference! I got the computer programmed for the gears so I'm all set there. I have full intention to do the front but I had a bad experience mudding a couple months ago so I need a new differential first 😕
