Default 2002 Silverado 4.8 power gaining...

I just bought an 02 Silverado with the 4.8 liter v8 with 79xxx miles.. Im very surprised that it comes with 270hp first of all.. But im looking for more hp/tq.. Haha I was thinking of putting a K&N filter kit on it, and also getting a programmer.. I am looking for the cheaper side of things tho.. A turbo might come later.. Any suggestions?

You will not get much for the K&N filter. For the money you spend you will not be happy with the out come.

A performance exhaust, and a high performance air flow sensor with the tuner will get you some noticeable HP

My K&N CAI gave me a lot more power that my programmer.

There are two professional tuners who give you a better chip than reprogramming yourself with a programmer.

Many people like Nelsontune and also Black Bear. They give you a chip programmed to your engine, exhaust, and other specs. Also for a little less that a programmer.

Do a thread search and you'll see people who've had SuperChips,Predators(like me) and others with very little improvement.

The CAI just gives you revs faster than a stock intake. It also robs you of MPG if you use it carelessly.

I just looked at both Black Bears, and Nelsons sites.. And im pretty impressed.. That seems like it would be a lot better way to go than to program myself.. I really appreciate it..

Stay away from aftermarket airflow sensors, they do absolutely nothing.

Custom tune is by far the best bang for the buck.
