Default 4L60e transmission swap

I have a 09 Tahoe PPV which doesn’t have any forward gears only reverse. No grinding noises nothing, not even noise as you shift between gears. I’d called around looking for a used transmission & not a single place near me has one. I did find someone we know who’s 96 S10 died and will sell the transmission from it. I’ve gotten conflicting information from a couple sources. One says the transmission will not work at all, the other says it would as long as I use my Tahoe’s bell housing & sensors on the transmission we are installing. Anyone have a idea if this can or cannot be done? The both vehicles have M30 build codes on them.

Just because the RPO code is M30 does not mean it will bolt up and work. The one out of the S10 is programmed for that engine size and gearing. Check to sensors applications and I bet they are not all the same. Do yourself a favor and just bolt in a reman or have yours rebuilt. You bolt in a used one and who knows when it fails again.

maybe keep looking...even if it did fit...do you really want a used 24yo transmission

if you see any debris in the pan...the lines and cooler/rad need to be flushed when hot...or else debris can go into the replacement trans. if you don't have the equipment to do this..replace all lines and cooler/rad

Only reason I’d considered it was because it was rebuilt last year and at the price it is definitely much cheaper than buying a different reman or having it rebuilt in my area. Lowest rebuild was $2,000.
