2000 tahoe 5.3ltr dtc P0404-HELP!
The only code I get is P0404. I have replaced the egr valve twice in the last 2 months. I checked for any leaks in the egr tube with no luck. The truck runs perfect and always has. ANy other suggestions please! I have to get an inspection in less than a month. Thanks -Dave

If you can get a hayens manual for it see what it says to check for that code if not take it to the dealership and tell them to gix it. Your engine light sould not be on if their is not a problem with it.

Probably a faulty ECM.
You need to test the EGR High Control circuit for voltage, THE ENGINE MUST BE RUNNING when using a scan tool to command the EGR valve ON.
1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Disconnect the EGR valve harness connector.
3. Connect a test lamp between the EGR valve high control circuit at the EGR valve harness connector and a known good ground.
4. START THE ENGINE.
5. With a scan tool, command the EGR valve to 50%.
Does the test lamp illuminate when commanding the EGR valve on? If yes then circuit is good. If the test bulb does not illuminate then check for bad connections (broken wires) if none are found then replace the Engine Control Module (ECM).
