2001 Suburban Overhead DVD Player Installation
I have a 15.6" overhead DVD player and monitor to install in my 2001 Suburban with Sunroof. The Audio/video installation guys said they couldn't put it in. Sounded like they were going to mount a board to the front cross member and let the rest hang on the headliner, but the unit is too heavy. Has anyone installed a DVD player using support between two cross members (about an 18" span). I was thinking this would be the best way to go and use 3/16" Aluminum plate for the base, mount it to the cross members and then mount the player to the Aluminum. Any experienced help appreciated.<O

Welcome to the forum.
First, you do realize that w/ that big of a screen, the rear view mirror will be useless.
Your idea sounds doable tho. Definitely wouldn't want to hang from headliner. The OEM attaches to some brackets attached to the underside of the roof.
Might give Crutchfield a call for other ideas. Maybe check w/ other installers too.

Thanks. This is a replacement player, first one was only a 7" screen and rear view mirror was useless as well. The side mirrors work well. I will check with crutchfield and other installers as well.
