CORRECTION:

With the truck off no keys in the ignition the gauge shows 20 psi. With the keys in and in the ON position but motor off the gauge shows 0.

So I still think I have high oil pressure. 40 psi idling warm. 60 psi at 2k rpm. And around 78-80+ under wide open throttle.

Any ideas?

If you truly have 78 - 80psi that is too high for a stock engine.

You may want to install a mechanical gage and really see were the engine is at and then go from there.

That has been said a few times already in this thread, does not seem like he wants to hear it. Stock gauge is not reliable.

How would I install a mechanical gauge?

Take the oil sending unit out and attach the gauge there.

2. Run the cable parallel to an non-vibrating, moving part and push it through the firewall and
3. attach it someplace in your line of sight but not too sloppy.
4. You can patch the illumination wires into the radio illumination, lighter or dash display(radio is the easiest).
5. Run the motor for 10 minutes and check what the engine oil pressure actually is.

The stock oil pressure gauge it not always accurate, you need to perform a mechanical pressure test. I doubt it has anything to do with your oil pressure.
My 2002 Chevy Tahoe doesn’t have any puddles anywhere and i lost 3-4 quarts in 2000 miles. Same issue, 320k miles. I believe it’s possible if some parts are a little rusty or worn
