Default 2001 Tahoe A/C Issue

I have a 2001 Tahoe that I can't control where the air goes. The issue just started the other day. Front is stuck on the dash vents, and the rear is stuck on the floor vents. Air is cold, all fuses check ok, my Haynes manual is worthless for this problem. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum.

Both front and rear are in the default mode. Something has failed or the BCM is confused.

I doubt that it's just this problem that your Haynes manual is worthless on.

Thanks Shark...any ideas on where to start? (besides the dealer).

I was trying to be nice about the Haynes manual..LOL!

Don't really have much to offer except maybe try disconnecting the battery for ten minutes. Pretty weak but w/o a factory service manual, about all I can say. Maybe someone else here has some ideas.

I tried the reset, that didn't work, so I tore it apart. Both mode actuators (front and rear) are bad...seems kinda weird to me, but I'll get new parts tomorrow and put it back together. Thanks for the help....hopefully there isnt a bigger problem here.

How were you able to diagnose that both actuators were bad?

I swapped the vent controller with the temp controller in the rear (I knew the temp worked) verified 1 was good and 1 was bad. Replaced with new ....so far so good. I haven't messed with the front yet since it's stuck on the dash vents and it's not as easy to get to.
