2002 'burb empty tank now won't start
Ran out of gas. When I put more in (1/8 tank) it will not start. Tried flipping on the ignition about 50 times to run the fuel pump, cranked it as well...nothing. Is there a special trick I need to do? Thanks!

Mine did the same thing -- ran the tank empty and the fuel pump would make noise and the vehicle would start and run, but it would just die going down the road or just sitting at a stop light. Didn't make enough pressure to keep it running.Turn it offit for a few minutes and it would be ok for a while, but it would always do it again. New fuel pump time.
Rather than buy the whole component at between $250 - $300, I bought a replacement pump only for $52 from eBay seller alanisdeals and paid a guy with a lift $100 to install it. I'm glad I did. Pump works fine, but it was abitch to install that heat and stuff fuel hose over the pump fittings. He ended up using the original gas hose, which worked fine. Having the lift and a transmission jack under the tank is the way to go.
It would have been a lot easer to buy the whole sending unit / pump component, but Isaved a bunch of money in the long run. I don't know the eBay guy, but my experience was good. If you're instested, look him up on eBay. Fuel pumps seems to be what he sells most.
