Default 2007 Suburban Fuel Level Sensor P0463 error code AFTER REPLACEMENT

Hey guys Im getting frustrated after replacing a fuel level sensor on a 2007 suburban 5.3. It was showing codes P0461 and P0463 before I replaced it and now its just showing the p0463. The gauge is always on E and when I clear the code and start the vehicle up it shows LOW FUEL and the fuel range reads "LOW" then after a few seconds of it running it goes to Fuel Range "---" and the low fuel light goes off. Any help or suggestions are much appreciated. As I recall it, installing the low fuel sensor there were 2 small wires that clipped into the new fuel level sensor but there were 3 holes. I put the 2 wires in the exact same spots on the new one as they came off the old one. ANY AND ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED!!! T

Thankyou,

Ben

Ben, welcome to the forum...
I have to ask, if you just replaced the sensor and get the low fuel error, did you fill the tank with gas or is it still nearly empty?

Default Any update?

I have this exact same problem, although my fuel level error seems to be tripping the vent valve and fuel level errors as well.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do next?

Default Problem solved

I got the factory service manual which indicates P0463 usually is not indicative of a bad sender but of a connection or wire problem either at the ECM, etc. Well, I threw in the towel and took it to the dealer to have them find the wiring bundle running above the front driveshaft had been rubbing and was fraying so badly that the fuel sender wire was in half. Ouch. Thumbs down to GM for designing the wiring support like this. Anyone getting a P0463 (not due to frozen temperatures) should do a thorough inspection of the wires going up the vehicle.

Default safety issue?

Anyone know if that wiring bundle has any safety-related wires in it? If so, GM should be doing a safety-recall on this. Anyone else out there have this issue???
