Default 2007 Tahoe Headlight Bulb Replacement

Replacing the bulb on my 2007 Tahoe looked like an onerous task. Removing the wheelwell cover, bumper mount, grill holder and then risk scratching the finish with the tabs on the headlight. I figured out an easier way to replace the headlight bulb on the passenger side.

1. Remove Air Box

a. Remove Air Filter

b. Pull box out. Not screwed into anything, uses inserts.

2. Behind headlight is a rubber membrane cover.

a. Pullout push pin (use channel locks or offset pliers to assist)

3. Loosen top two bolts holding Light fixture

4. With the fixture loosened push the headlamp forward to get more clearance (1/4-1/2 inch should do it). You should be able to twist the bulb counterclockwise, remove and replace bulb and insert into light fixture twisting clockwise.

5. Push headlight fixture into original position and tighten. You may want to mark its original position.

6. Put on light to make sure it works

7. Tap in push pin on membrane

8. Place air box bottom in original position and push in until it connects (may have to jockey a bit to find position)

9. Replace Air Filter, 4 screws and hose clamp.

I'm awaiting for the driver's side bulb to go but on observation it seems I could pull the spare battery plate and wiper wash reservior. There's a membrane cover behind that light as well.

For those of you that installed new HID bulbs and ballasts on the driver side without moving the headlight out for access must have small hands! Did you guys install the ballast somewhere else?

FYI for those w/ HIDs: Might want to turn the "Approach lite" feature off so you don't have the headlites on and then they turn off when you start the engine and then back on. I've heard that can cause early failure.

Default What is replacement bulb for DRL?

Hey guys, thanks for all the great information on how to change out the front headlights. You have saved a lot of people a lot of hours. Before I begin taking apart the passenger side of my 2007 Suburban, I wondered if anyone knows what bulb I need for the DRLs. Thanks!!

in2pro, this is sooooo very helpful. Always seems to be conflicting numbers on bulbs in message boards. You have listed everything here and made the shopping trip much easier. Thanks for taking the time out to list.

This is the second time in three months - such a pain in the butt to change bulbs on this model.

Default video

thank you for the video! Luckily all of my 6 year old bulbs in the headlights still work fine. I don't want to do this job...

The headlights in that video are BEAT. How did this person even see at night?! I didn't think the 07-14 Tahoe headlights would fade that bad... I've seen it bad on older cars. We replaced the ones on the Mazda for yellowing. NIGHT AND DAY difference. But that's 10 years old... I guess they all yellow?
