Default Tahoe Towing

I am the owner of a 2015 Tahoe. It is my second one. I had to take back the first one because it could only tow 6300lbs. The Chevy website says that all 2015 Tahoes can tow 8300lbs. The website says that 8300lbs is the Standard This is a lie! The standard tow rating is only 6300lbs. Interestingly enough the number 6300 cannot be found anywhere on the site. In order to tow 8300 you must buy the "Max Towing Package". So "Naildozer" check your window sticker to see if your Tahoe is equipped with the Max Towing option. If not your Tahoe is rated to tow only 6300lbs.

Isn't buying the 'tow package' something, someone, looking to tow... might look for?

I found the Tahoe on the lot. It had everything I wanted. I could not ask the dealer my question because it was a Sunday and the dealer was closed. It turns out that the dealer did not know the answer to my question anyway. So I went home and researched my question on the Official Chevy Website. The website clearly shows that the standard Towing for Tahoes is 8300lbs. This figure met my needs so I decided to buy. Nowhere on the site does it say that the max towing package is "required" to achieve the 8300lb. rating. Also nowhere on the site is the real standard of 6300lbs mentioned.

Default GM

well, if it's one thing GM's good at... well, I'll let you know when I find it, but web design... isn't one of those things.

Volvo's starting to get it:

Default well..

well... it says 8500 lbs, with a * on it, and if you click it.. it does say "assuming properly equipped"

But hey, at least you don't have to remove the spare tire + rear bumper.

Sadly, this is where the marketing department does what they always do... I believe it's called lying.

Or maybe it's the power of the asterisk.

I AM GOD*

*am not actually, but that would be pretty cool

THIS CAR CAN TOW EIGHT MILLION TONS*

*no, actually it can't.

I agree it's deceptive at best, and maybe in bad taste, but it looks fairly industry standard.

Within the first hour of towing - there was so much sway that the trailer ended up on its side - and the truck almost too. The sway control never engaged. I have heard a similar story from another 2015 Tahoe purchaser - and he ended up returning the TAHOE immediatley. Has anyone else encountered this?
Please check your owner's manual to see what your Tahoe is rated to tow. Remember the standard for all Tahoe models is 6300lbs.

I remember that commercial, if I recall there was a lot of chatter about it as I thought the truck has been modified to do the towing... as well as its gimmicky, the tow distance was short and a very low speeds.
Giving those parameters, you are right, you can tow that 165k lbs.....

You could convince me to pull just about anything with my burb if you give me the proper equipment, never leave 1st gear, strip down to bare minimum, close off all streets, have a police escort for just a few blocks, and oh ya, if anything goes wrong, you pay for all repairs or replace my truck.
