94 Won't Pass Smog
Just got done re-building the front end on my dad's 94 suburban. We are now attempting to smog it. However the guy at the smog station said he won't pass it due to it having a "dodge cat converter" which was replaced over 20 years ago and been smogged numerous times. What are California's stupid laws when it comes to older vehicles and their cat's? Other than supposedly being the wrong cat it passed with flying colors, emissions were half off what is allowed by law. just a girl trying to help her dad, any idea what's up this dudes butt?

Phone the shop and ask what the concern is. You don't have to use oem parts but they must function the same as a factory part.
is the dodge converter a 3 way catalyst? does the factory system use an air pump that should be piped into the converter?
go to a different test facility; where they tested it before and passed it.
