Default 99 Tahoe - 4x4 Push Button Problem

Anyone had any problems with their switch for their push button 4x4? Today I had it in auto 4x4 on the back roads, when I got to pavement I went to 2wd with no problem. Pulled into the gas station and noticed none of the lights were on? I tried to push 2wd and it did nothing. Then the light came back on but on auto 4x4. Finally it let me put it back in 2wd and was fine the rest of the day. Is this a common problem? Thanks

This is a common problem, the solder joints crack in the switch. You need to take the switch apart and resolder the connections.

Thanks Jeff, I had a feeling I was going to hear that. Are the joints obvious when I take the switch out?

I know this post is a bit old, but thanks for the information on the joints.

If you read your owners manual, it says you must put in nutural to switch out of 4wd low fyi.
