ac tensioner breaking and rattling - Chevrolet Forum

Hello,

I have done a little research but have yet to find an answer. I replaced my ac tensioner and belts the squeak is gone but the ac tensioner is rattling and even breaking off the pulley and arm. I have replaced it 3 time in as many weeks. I have found TSB # 030138019 which seems to describe it. Does anyone have a fix for this problem. It seems to be common. I have seen no fix for it though.

i have a problem with a squeak that drives me nuts i replaced the belt and a weeek later the squeek is back

Is that noise you hear only for a split second? I live in Pheonix and the heat is killer. When I leave my Tahoe out all day in the sun and start it up in the evening there is a sound like what you described..but only for about five seconds. I don't even have time to get out of the car and look at it. I took it to a dealer and they can't diagnose the problem because it doesn't do it if it has been driven. P.S. I would advise anyone who is thinking about purchasing an 07 Tahoe to stay away....i've had the car in the shop five times in three months. No good...worst thing I've ever purchased..

Thanks for that the tsb info. DO you know what the fix is for this particular tsb. THat is definately my problem. Just need the fix.

My best guess would be to check with a Chevy dealer as they can bring it up online. Or check at alldata.com.

i have this problem also. replaced the belt and tensioner and it made it worse. did anyone find out how to fix this?

I finally replaced the ac compressor and have had no further problems. The ac compressor I beleive was having a condition liquid slugging. Any replaced no further problems. I got the ac compressor o tube and accumulator oil from a company called blend air in TX for like 285.00 shipped. Works great. I found them on ebay.
