Default Emergency Brake

I have a 2003 Suburban Z71 with 4 wheel disc brakes and the emergency brake will not hold the truck. The emergency brake pedal goes all the way to the floor with no resistance. The equalizer nut is adjusted all the way out and star wheel is adjusted on both sides so the drums just clear the emergency brake shoes. I had to replace the emergency brake shoes because I knocked a shoe off the right side putting the drum/rotor back on. I did notice that with the emergency brake shoe off and the emergency brake pedal is depressed only one side of the emergency brake wheel cylinder pushes on the shoe. Anybody have any idea why the emergency brake is not holding.

Welcome to the forum.

Not familiar w/ how the Parking Brakes are set up but it sounds like they use a separate set of shoes inside the rotor hat. Is there a cable adjustor somewhere in the cable?

Yes there are a speperate set of shoes inside the rotor hat. There is a cable adjuster and it is the equalizer nut and it is adjusted allthe way out.

By all the way out, do you mean that the cable has been shortened as much as possible?

The equalizer nut is adjusted as tight as it can be so the cable has been shortened as much as possible.

Without seeing it, I can't offer any more ideas. Maybe someone else can help.
