John Deere says they won't warranty "ethanol damage" on my brand new to me 2011 Mower... it's now out of warranty, and the only issue I had was the seat ripping (which they replaced). I love my mower, but it's not exactly a choice to run E10 where I live... there isn't a 'real gas' station within 20 miles! I'm not driving all over to find magic potion juice to run my mower.

Stabil makes an additive that is supposed to mitigate the effects of ethanol in your gasoline.

The problem with calling ethanol a renewable fuel is that it takes more energy to produce it than you get back. So unless you're using solar powered tractors to produce the corn that's used to produce ethanol, you eventually run out of fuel.

Default yea

Still don't feel, I, the consumer, should have to go to that level of crap to fill my mower.

I didn't choose E10.

I am however looking at electric riding mowers.

I wouldn't mind a winter project to convert an old busted one.... could be fun.

But I'm still saving my $ for my Model X.

Love it, love it, love it.

My wife, and two of our friends drove a P85D in Lancaster, PA last Saturday.

Yea... it's.. insane. and yes, they fully let us drive in insane mode.

We also drove a Gallardo Spyder last summer. I prefer the Tesla. So quiet, so controlled... so much bigger.

I'm about 2 months away from putting my deposit down on the X (suv).

Have you seen the P85D vs. corvette?

The Corvette wins by 0.1 of a second.

Purpose built sports car vs. 4 door family sedan that seats 7... and it's 0.1 off... not to mention a 'vette isn't all that cheap.

Soon, oil burning cars will be as silly as corded phones.

I was actually most impressed with the Traffic Aware Cruise Control... more than the flat out 0-60.

I would LOVE to have this, and I'm sure the X will. It took us from 50 MPH to ZERO and when traffic started moving again.. we started moving.

it was CRAZY. I was so scared! I had my foot over the brake. I was like.. don't crash don't crash don't crash!

Default Flex fuel

Total noob here, but read thru a zillion posts so far. Very useful site, thanks.

Just bought my wife an '02 4WD Tahoe with a "Z" code vin, which implies that it it a flex-fuel model from all the info I've been able to find. However, there's an itty-bitty sticker on the inside of the fuel-fill door that says to not use flex-fuel with it.

No badges on the body, nothing either way in the manual.

So which is it? How do I determine for sure?

Thanks!
is the gascap Yello? If it is, you have a flex fuel vehicle. If not, do not use flex fuel.

How can I confirm?
sounds like a flex fuel. consider the door may have been replaced because they have latch issues

Default 05 suburban 8th vin is z

Has anyone encountered this? Bought a fuel pump using my vin. The 8th digit is z and the fuel door says I can use e85. However my fuel pump has all 3 lines like the gas only model? No plans to use flex fuel. Just wondering what gives?

Flex fuel just has a higher alcohol content; goes in the same tank with the same pump
BTW welcome to the forum. You will get more help starting your own thread vs jumping on one from years ago
