Default Heater hose tee replacement

I have a 2000 suburban 2500 with broken off heater hose tee. I have it bypassed and am waiting for the replacement. I was wondering if I could use an off the shelf hose tee and just use hose clamps instead of those stupid quick connect fittings. Also if I use a short length of hose between the tee and the copper fitting going to the heater core it would provide some movement and prevent it from shearing off again on rough roads. Any thoughts?

Sounds feasible to me.
