Default Help please - it's not the brake switch...

Hi,

My '03 Tahoe is having an issue that seemed easy to fix at first but is turning out not to be so. Here's a description of the issue:

The left and right rear brake lights do not illuminate when the brake pedal is pushed however the brake light in the rear gate does. The cruise control has also stopped working (including no light on the dash). All other lights and signals appear to operate normally.

I have replaced the brake switch and checked the fuse that controls brake lamp illumination / cruise, it is fine.

Any ideas on what else it could be?

Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the forum.

Has any electrical work been done wrt the trailer socket? Or has a trailer been connected to it recently? Do the turn signals still work?

No, there has been no work recently with the trailer socket and no trailer hooked up in quite some time. Yes, the turn signals do still operate normally.

I'll ask it even though it may seem obvious... have you checked the bulbs?
Have you checked for voltage at the socket base to make sure its not corrosion preventing electrical connection...
I don't know if it applies to your vehicle, but some features like cruise control or remote start won't work if there are any set codes...
