Default How many quarts?

I have a 4L60e transmission with the deep pan in a Suburban. I pulled the pan and changed the filter a month or so ago. I know exactly how many quarts that took. My question is, when I just pull the plug and drain the pan only, how many quarts will it take to fill it back up? I plan to measure how much comes out and put that much back. I was hoping someone here could give me a quick answer so I can go buy the oils today.

I'd say the pan alone is approximately 3 qts, so I would have 6 on hand. I'd add the approximate amount you think came out, drive her around to warm it up and have a quart or 2 with you should it start to slip, add accordingly as/after it warms up.

I have performed a drain and fill twice and both times it took about 3.5 quarts.
