Default 07 Tahoe Power lift gate question

Hello all. New to the forum and have a question. I have searched the forums and haven't found a problem like mine yet so hopefully someone can answer this. In the last couple of days, my Rear Hatch would act like it was opening while driving with the lights coming on and the "Rear Access Open" message on the HUD. It started out just happening on occasion, but in the last couple of days it has progressively gotten worse. Now just driving down the road with very little vibration sets it off. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Thanks in advance!

Default hmm

sounds like something in the latch mechanism is allowing it to open just a bit or the sensor is off a hair...

does it open when you are moving? I have not had a problem but it could be from the handle/button on the tailgate itself. hopefully someone else can help you more

It doesn't open at all. When I get to where I am going and try to mess with it, it won't open if I push the button on my remote, tailgate, or the interior release. I usually have to pop the back glass, open it, shut it, then the gate will usually open for me. I was thinking latch mechanism too, but I am not real mechanically inclined.

I do not, sorry. But this AM my tailgait was open (just glass part) about 1" from last night when I forgot to close it, so even that has a sensor! geez!

Default Thanks!

Thanks Shark. Thanks for replying too sabrtooth. My truck was freaking out all the way to work, even just sitting still. Interior lights were on, the dinging like a door was open, and the locks rapidly going up and down.....so irritating! I have an appointment in the morning, so hopefully they can come up with a solution.....that isn't too costly!

Sorry all, I just realized I never replied to this thread. Finally after about my 4th trip to the dealer, they decided to change the latch in the tailgate. That seemed to do the trick as I have had no issues since and that was done roughly June of 2011. I hope this will help anyone that has the same issue that I had.
