If i send my instrument panel to get the DIC lights fixed, will it effect mileage #'s
once i send it off for the 1-2 week soldering period, i still have to drive around racking up the miles, when i plug it back in, will it be updated to the new mileage. if not, what do i need to do

I can't say for sure BUT I thought I had heard somewhere in this forum that the BCM or ECM tracks the mileage and sends that data to the IP for your eye enjoyment.... but I am not 100%...
It would seem to easy to swap out an IP with lower miles to get a better resale if it were as simple as a IP replace...

for some vehicle like cavaliers the mileage is in the bcm. For the trucks I think its in the ipc.
When a cluster is replaced and programmed, the mileage and engine hours are entered during the ipc programming set-up procedure.
On older models the mileage had to be entered into the ipc from the ipc provider and then was shipped to the dealer.
It is my understanding if you drive with the ipc unplugged mileage will not accumulate.
