my guess would be the differences are in the fuel system components , fuel pump, lines and hoses injectors as ethanol with corrode regular parts.
what are you looking to swap over

Default Some

fuel lines, injectors, pumps, etc.

Also, run from e85 as fast as you can.

you might as well try running on water... they have the same effect on the engine.

Never any intent to use it. I knew it was hogwash when it came out.

Was more interested in seeing if e85 built engines would last longer due to the type of equipment used to run and engine on it.

Like less rotting hoses, longer life on injectors and fuel pumps etc.

Default maybe

I'd say "perhaps" since most US fuel is now 10%... so maybe they will last longer.

I know SEA-DOO had a huge problem (well, buyers did) with fuel lines from 1990-2001... they would gum up with green goo as the ethanol ate them from the inside out.

which would clog the carbs/filters, run the 2 strokes lean, and BOOM goes the engine.

US Gov't says too bad, so sad.

Because the people making the laws at $300,000 a year, don't give a rats A$$ about the working class.

Here is one difference. Stock 5.3L injectors are 28lb/hr, flex fuels are 33 lb/hr

Direct from GM Tech:
. Flex fuel engines use unique injectors with a greater cone angle and higher maximum fuel-flow rate. The fuel rail matches the injectors, but it's manufactured of the same stainless steel used for all Vortec V-8s.

Funny thing, I was speaking with an engine builder here in AZ. He claims and said could show that running a tank of E85 a year will clean pistons, deposits, and injectors 10X better than using an injector cleaner. twice a year. He said it usually steams the pistons and valves clean. even cleans your cat. He likened the one tank use of throwing in techron on a 1/4 tank of fuel. "hell yeah its gonna run rough while it cleans" its after that your engine runs better.
Just saying......I wont use e85 as long a toptier is around.

well... yea... it cleans.

Alcohol is a solution. it's used for cleaning all the time.
