Rear Window Seal + Trailer = LOUD Whistling!
Is there a TSB for the seal around the rear window?
I just drove over 1400 miles with a 6x12 trailer in tow. 700 the trailer was loaded, 700 it was empty, all 1400 miles the seal around the rear window would allow enough air in to make a VERY loud whistle! Loud enough that I could hardly hear the radio! This was so freakin' annoying that I almost stopped at Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg, ID and traded it in on a new Dodge (not really, I'd buy an 08 2500 HD before a Dodge).
This whistling does not, nor has not, ever happened without a trailer in tow. I trailer a lot, like a minimum of 2 days a week, there's no way I'm putting up with this on a vehicle that listed at 45K. Chevy seriously needs to improve their overall fit/finish quality.
Has anyone else with a trailer experienced this problem?
On a positive note, the tow/haul mode works pretty well. Definitely helps out on the long passes.

My truck is doing the exact same thing. I've chirped in on several other noise issue strings. Mine is at the dealership now. Anxious to see what they do/say.

Have the dealer replace the liftage glass assembly with part#25810434
The liftglass rubber seal (weatherstripping) with part #15923055
And finally the rubber bumper stops with part #15038385 (they need 2 of these items).
This will all be covered under warranty, have the dealer reference STB #06-08-66-012B if they have any questions.

EDIT: Just called my dealer and gave him the STB #. [sm=smiley20.gif] Going in tomorrow for an oil change and warranty work.

I had this issue as well, when I towed a sandrail to my house it sounded like the rear hatch was open, that's how bad the noise level was back there. Glad to know there is a STB #.
Thank you,
Jay

Just for fun you may want to ask them to show just exactly how they "realigned th rear glass", I'd be curious as there is no adjustment for it.

Clarification needed. That was issue description. Having re-read, says Correction: neccessary to realign rear midgate w/strip to rear gate liftglass. c1281.
I think the issue description made more sense.

RE: Rear Window Seal + Trailer = LOUD Whistling!
UPDATE: I had the warranty work performed on Monday then trailed a fully loaded 6x12 box trailer 700 miles on Thursday. The fix works, get it done.
