Default Possible Automatic Transmission Problem

I have a 2003 Tahoe with I believe a 4L60-E transmission. I have noticed what feels like a miss as I drive around 40-50 mph. Shifting has seemed a little different. This morning around 45 mph I noticed the tachometer went from 2k to 4k with what felt like no torque to the rear end as if I had shifted to neutral. After a few seconds or so it seemed to catch hold again and the rpm went back down. Could this issue be something other than the transmission?

It seems to be it, you will need to open it and inspect, at least buy a transmission master repair kit.

Have you tried checking the fluid level? Sounds like converter shudder and low fluid level causing your pump to draw air and which allows the clutch packs to disengage and reengage rapidly. Also causes gear hunting...
