Scan tools

Hello,
Anyone have any input on scan tools, I have a new 07 Tahoe, she is runnign great but I believe in having the right tools BEFORE a problem arises. I have been looking at the Actron CP9180 I have the basic code reader but that is all it does is read, the 9180 issupposed to be a real time monitor. I purchased the Factory manuals for my Tahoe also.
