Default 09 radio install question

Hey I took my 09 LTZ to get an amp and sub installed. I have the CD/DVD/NAV radio. I am not sure where the guys tapped to get the RCA for the amp but it sounds very distorted. The guy told me I had to turn the gain down which I agree some but when I turn it down to not here the distortion I don't hear any base coming out of the woofer. Has anybody installed an amp to their stock radio? If so where did you tap to get the RCA's? And finally what combo did you use? Thanks...

Well not sure if anybody is interested but I took my truck back to the install place. The owner had done research and found out that they make a harness that plugs in to the back of the radio and it has rca outputs. Now I get a clean signal for the sub and it sounds much better.

Were did you get the work done? It's not so simple adding equipment to cars these days with OnStar, cameras, satellite radio. You need adapters for everything if you want it to work right. He should have known that the first time.

I agree completely. Its a small shop and they generally do good work. I have gotten 3 vehicles done there. I think it was his first time working on a 09 with the dvd/nav unit. He did purchase the adapter and installed it free of charge. So I saved about 60 buck.
