2009 Tahoe Radio works but display is out
I started my Tahoe this morning and the Radio display did not come on. The radio works fine except there is no display. Of course I just rolled over the 36k warranty limit although I still have 9 of the 36 months left. Could this just be a lose connector on the radio or will the radio have to be replaced? This is the OEM unit but not NAV.

well
2 issues:
1. no, you don't have a warranty. it's 36k or 3 years, which ever comes FIRST.
2. are you sure you didn't turn the 'display off'? did you hit one of the hard keys? NAV/etc?
if you have the regular radio, I don't know anything about that. only the sat nav.
if you are just out of warranty, maybe the selling dealer could provide assistance.

Beerisfood,
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue with your vehicle. Is this the first time it has happened? I would advise you to get into contact with your dealership to confirm what the issue is. Since you are just over your warranty, they might be willing to work with you. Please let me know if you do decide to visit the dealership.
Thank you

Thanks for your reply SabrToothSqrl.
1. yes I know I don't have a warranty. I was just lamenting that I had just passed the miles limit while still well within the time limit.
2. I have the regular radio and not the NAV unit

beerisfood welcome to the forum, Have you gone to your dealer for other services? if so I would agree with CSC that they might ( its a big might too) just work with you on the issue....
May want to try check any and all fuses as well as try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and see if it resets....

2009 Tahoe Radio works but display is out
in2pro. Thanks for the feedback. I did check all the likely fuses and also tried disconnecting the battery already. No luck. I own 3 GM vehicles and take them all to the same dealer for service including all the scheduled maintenance packages. So, I do hope they will work with me on this. I'm due for 4 new tires on the Tahoe so maybe I can use that as leverage.

Diagnosis is in
Elizabeth,
I got delayed a day and took it in this morning. They just called a few moments ago. The diagnosis is "something is burned out in the radio" so they are ordering a replacement which will be here next week. The dealer is graciously picking up the cost ~$350 of the radio and only charging labor ~$170. Thanks for your interest with this and I'll let you know if I have any more problem with the replacement radio.

I am glad to hear you are getting your radio replaced. It is also good to hear that your dealership is helping you out like that!
