Default Weird Voltage reading

I recently disconnected my postive cable off my battery to install a radio in my 07 Suburban. After reconnecting the battery my voltage readings stay at around 12.8 to 13.0 volts even when the truck in on and running. Why is this happening? Before the radio install my voltage was at a constant 14.3v wether the truck was at 800rmp or 2000rmp. Now its at 12volts. Why?

take it for a ride. It should go backup when it needs toas the voltage drops at the battery. The newer GM's shut the supply charge off when its not needed. I have actually seen mine stay off for over 6 miles. I actually thought my alt took a crap on me. I tried turning everything on to pull a draw on the batteryand it stayed at 12.7 according to the guage and my edge monitor. After about 4 stop lights it finally came on and brought the voltage back to 14.2.

If it doesn't go back up then I would double check everything.

Yes. This is not a flaw. The manual clearly states that 2007 and above alternator has an automatic feature. It automatically detects when the battery needs charge and behaves accordingly. Changes you see on the voltage reading is with regards to this automatic feature.
