New here to the forum.Great info here! A question, when soldering in the NTE2975 it can go two different ways.Is there a meter test to tell which connector goes where?
Thanks again.

I mounted mine with lettering up and match to the old one, It didn't fit as it was bigger than the old, i just soldered it is as a direct replacement(just was not flush to the board and i added a jumper wire from the mounting part of the chip to the mounting part on the board if that makes sense. Next time this customer comes in I will remove the cluster and take a pic.

Default Ended up replacing cluster after solder

The solder method worked initially, after a while I noticed that the instrument cluster would flicker once in a while. About two weeks after repair, smoke started coming from the cluster and the display went out completely, once disassembled, the damage was worse than before. Ended up replacing with oem cluster from dealer, really wasn't too bad, 190.00 with core charge. And to answer a common question, the cluster does need to be reprogrammed to the vehicle. Just thought I'd share the experience with you guys.

Great thread! I'm trying to determine if mine is the mosfet or something else. In the speedo cluster I have the speedometer needle that wont move, shifter indicator blank, airbags and seatbelt indicators lit. The temp and voltage gauges work fine...... doesn't sound like the mosfet.....
2008 Avalanche 5.3
Thoughts?
Thanks

The information Center and prnd321 lights on my tahoe are blank as well. So I decided to pull out the cluster and found out it's the mosfet.

I have a 2007 Tahoe. As I was driving down a narrow street the mirror on a truck going opposite direction hit and broke my mirror. Coincidently the DIC and PRD122 lights went out at the same time. Is the wiring connected in any way (power mirror not heated)? Does anyone know where the fuse is?
