2004 Tahoe.
PRND321 was not lit.
Also reads "odometer error"
"buckle seatbelt" works
"door ajar" works
"service tire monitor" works
trip button will cycle thru different readouts...hours...trip...etc.
trip readout does not change...reads zero.

I found a youtube video and repaired the PRND321...it is now lit.
Still have "odometer error".

One shop says he can repair it and the mileage will read what it was before the "error".

Another shop says I need to tell them what mileage I want put in. That the mileage is completely gone.

What should I do?

thx
david

p.s.
here's the video I followed...

How to repair 2005 Gmc sierra truck Dim PRND321 and Speedometer cluster - YouTube
Hi, Tanin Auto Electronix here. We are vendors on the site and specialize in instrument cluster repairs. If you want to send it in to us, we can run diagnostics on the cluster and if it is repairable, that only is a 1-3 business day turn around. If it is not, we can help you get a replacement cluster. But there isn't a way to diagnose it without first seeing the cluster.

Here is the link to our diagnostics service for cluster repair:

Diagnosis

I canīt believe that some guys at ebay minimum charge 60 dlls by welding a simple transistor again.

Actually it was easy tor remove the cluster. Put the steering wheel down as far a possible (key in Neutral setting). Unscrew the cover plate, push out the R & L vent faceplates (faux wood covers) and remove screws. The video shows the basic steps. Just pop the plug in the back and have the dealer reprogram to current mileage. Good luck!

Default Q16 replacement

Q16 at bottom center with orange wire attached

Wow old news is great news! It was like finding a gold mine this forum and thread. Have a 07 Yukon bought last year for my wife, but because of health issues she doesn't drive. So we want to sell it. But the day we brought home the DIC went blank so we took it back to dealer (Ford) and they replaced the 4 switch stack to right of DIC. This fixed it until about a month ago. I checked around on line and found this site and this thread. Blew me out of water! Want to thank burhead1 and lapugh21for their information and solution to problem. Shoulda got the surface mount (IRLL2705) but got same as burhead1 (NTE2975) and also attached wire from flat back and cut out white plastic bezel. It worked great didn't hafta get odometer reset. Thanks so much for this thread and forum and the great Americans that post here. Blessings to all and keep the shiny side up!

I've also been having this issue with my cluster. Thanks to this thread, I should have mine fixed today. I wanted to share this photo I took of the Q16 problem area.
