Cool Suspension System needs new compressor?

I was told that my 2008 Tahoe LTZ needs a new compressor for the suspension system. The dealer did a pinpoint test and concluded: Traced problem to exhaust valve on level ride compressor acting up. I was told its going to cost $650 for the part, but I don't need to get one right away as the light only comes on periodically. Supposedly the frigid temps could cause it to stick.

Does anybody else have this problem or have heard of it. I don't doubt it, I just bought it and hate that I have to put that much into it at 55,000 miles. What part would I look for if I were to search auto parts stores or web sites? Thanks for your input.

If they were not going to cover it under any warranty, I would consider waiting to see if it comes back as extended cold can cause false failures...

Default Part number

Dear shakamenta,

I have read your post about your level ride compressor concerns. I am going to exhaust my resources for the part number that you are in need of. Please, allow me through Monday afternoon to get this information for you.

Sincerely,
Michelle P., Chevrolet Customer Service (assisting Jeff Morris)

Default Same problem on 2007 with 63,000 miles

Apparently this is a common problem, mine has also been coming on intermittently. I am the original owner and they want $800+ installed!

Here are some options, all considerably less than $650, less the elbow grease:

'08 '13 Yukon Denali Tahoe Escalade Delphi Air Ride Compressor Pump | eBay
Air Ride Suspension Compressor with Dryer for 07 13 Chevy GMC SUV Truck Dorman | eBay

Good luck to you on the fix!
