Default 2000 tracker auto-trans dexron capacity

Hi, have a 2000 tracker 2.0 liter 2wd, auto-trans w/od.
I changed the auto-trans oil.
The helm shop manual indicates 2.6 qts trans oil fluid.
I drained out around 3.5 qts.
Just added 3.0 qts.

See the 2000 tracker in my garage.

What is your experience with the auto-trans oil capacity...

I would say that you should stick with the manual recommendations. Your owner's manual should also list the capacity. Sounds like it was overfilled at one time or another, as there's specific ways to check the auto trans fluid levels - it's not like checking the engine oil level. Check your manuals or take it to a mechanic.

Hi, Yes, it's at the rear of the engine by the firewall. There's a certain way to check the level, you don't check it when the vehicle isn't running, you can refer to the owners manual for specific instructions.

Default 2000 Tracker Auto-Trans capacity

Hi, the specs call for 2.6 qts, I use 3.0 qts, as you fill the trans when it get up to capacity you can start to hear air blowing out the breather.
Anyway I have changed it 2 times, the trans works alot better now, it had not been changed in a long time, was dirty and was over filled.
May change the filter sometime. See my Album...

Ok, Just a tip, when you fill the trans and you check the level with the dipstick and it shows high on one side and low on the other side, always go with the lower side and check fluid at normal operating temp. Gary(new york)
