Default 2004 Trailblazer LS AC problem... Any Ideas?

Hey All,

After a long trip - went to turn on AC and nothing happened. You can hear it turn on but the fan isn't blowing.

We've got 54,000 miles on it.

Is it the fan belt or the fan itself?

Just thought I'd ask here before taking it in for an expensive check up.

Thanks for any suggestions!

BTW - It is not the fuse.

Areyou saying that the compressor (on the engine) is working, but the fan inside the vehicle is not blowing air? Or is the fan blowing air inside, but the air is not being cooled? When you say "you can hear it turn on" what do you mean?

I think the compressor is working but the fan isn't blowing.
When I turn it on - you can hear little clicks or sounds. But nothing comes out at all.
And once I'm on the road driving more than 45 mph - then I can adjust the temp and it will blow heated or cooled air - but only because it's being pushed through.

I mean - maybe it's a big duh that it's the fan or something - but I want to be sure before I take it in. Money is tight.
Thanks for any help!

If you have not already done so, you should probably start with checking the fuses. There's an engine compartment fuse box (driver's sidenear the firewall)and a rear underseat fuse box. Look in your owner's manual to be sure, but I think the correct fuse / relay for the blower motorin the underhood box is#35. Look at #39 & #44 in the underseat box. If those are good, check in your owner's manual to see if there are others that also might apply.

At Autozone or Advance Auto or one of the other stores, you can get a fuse tester to test all your fuses without removing them.

start by checking the blower resistor and connector.the connectors on these melt and burn.if it is burnt replace the connector and resistor.its located under the pass side dash.check this first,it dosent cost anything.this is a common problem on these.post back if these is any problems.
