Default retained accessory power

what stops the RAP from working? the radio is supposed to shut off when the i open the door when the ignition is in the locked position but it doesnt. its a 2004 chev. trailblazer

the door switch sends a grd signal to the bcm to turn off rap.




does the dome light turn on when you open the door?

when i unlock the door with the keyless button it does. opening the door when its unlocked it doesnt.

great. so you have verified that the dome light works but will not turn on via the door open input. The door open input doesn't shut off rap like it should. This means the fault is the.................(insert answer).

i guess your saying it is the switch?. where is it located at?

there will either be a plunger style switch located in the jamb of the door or a switch in the door lock actuator.


if you find a plunger, remove it and grd the single wire. the dome light should come on and the rap should shut off.
the ones that have the switch in the door lock actuator test the same way but the door trim panel must be removed and there are multiple wires in the connector.


professionals use a scan tool to view the door switch data. this allows them to test the part without removing everything to get at it.
