Default Transmission slip in 2-3

2004 envoy xl 4.2L.

Transmission slips and rpms increase 500 when shifting from 2-3. Only happens when acceleration is mild. Replaced fluid and 2-3 shift solenoid to no avail. shift solenoid seems loose when compared to the 1-2 shift solenoid. Any ideas?

I am sorry to hear of your frustration with your Envoy. Did you just recently change the fluid? When was the last time you changed it beforehand? Does reverse still work? It could be the solenoid. The sun shell is another possibility. These are only suggestions, not a diagnosis. Have you taken the vehicle in for an inspection? It is difficult to diagnose a problem like this without a physical inspection.

I look forward to your response.

Thanks for your reply. Reverse is fine. Problem is not that bad but noticeable. Is there a valve/ spring behind the shift solenoid that could be bad? If reverse is fine does that rule out the sun shell.

Just got the truck so I do not know history (77k)

I encourage you to take the vehicle in for an inspection. A technician should be able to offer a more accurate diagnosis. Better to catch it now, just in case.

If you would like, PM your VIN number, and I can check your specific vehicle for any known history and/or problems.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me.
