2005 uplander abs cure cheap and easy
MY ABS WOULD GO ON SOMETIMES THEN IT WAS STEADY IT WAS THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL. I REMOVED THE WHEEL (JACKSTANDS) AND NOTICED THE PLUG FROM THE SENSOR LOOKED IFFY. I GOT OUT AN OHM METER AND A GOOD ONE READS ABOUT 11K, MINE WOULD READ THAT BUT IF I MOVED THE SHORT CABLE IT CUTOUT. I NIPPED THE 2 WIRES OFF AS CLOSE TO THE PLUG AS POSSIBLE, BECAUSE YOU ONLY HAVE ABOUT 3" I STRIPPED OFF ABOUT 1/4" AND WITH SOLDER PASTE AND SOLDER TINNED THE END. i SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED SINCE I SUSPECTED IT WAS THE PLUG, I WENT TO THE AUTO WRECKER AND CUT OFF A CONNECTOR FROM A GM AC UNIT WITH BOTH THE MALE AND FEMALE PLUGS AND A FOOT OR SO OF THE CABLE $5.00 .
I CUT OFF THE WIRES WITH ABOUT 3" EXTRA FROM THE SALVAGE PLUG, TINNED THE WIRES, SLID ON SOME SHRINK TUBING AND SOLDERED THE NEW PLUG IN PLACE. NOW BECAUSE THE ABS PLUG HAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT PLUG I HAD TO CUT OFF THE FACTORY ABS PLUG HARNESS AND SOLDER IN THE ONE FROM THE SALVAGE . AGAIN I HAVE TO SAY YOU NEED SOLDER PASTE TO GET THE SOLDER TO FLOW ON THE OLD WIRES. ONCE SOLDERED AND SHRINK TUBED, I TAPED OVER THE JOINTS AND PRYED THEM BACK INTO THE PROTECTIVE SLEEVE. MAKE SURE YOU USE THE LITTLE PLASTIC CLIPS TO HOLD THE CABLE IN PLACE AND IF YOU ARE SLIGHTLY ****, USE A FEW TIE WRAPS JUST TO MAKE SURE NOTHING TOUCHES ANY MOVING PART
IT TOOK ME ABOUT 45 MINUTES AND THAT ABS LIGHT IS OUT. REMEMBER TO KEEP THAT FACTORY PIECE OF HARNESS IN CASE YOU HAVE TO REPLACE A WHEEL BEARING BECAUSE IT COSTS $50.
