3.9 V6 Oil Capacity
Hi, I am new on this forum.
I actually a 2008Pontiac Montana SV6owner.I would like to post my question here becausethis model has been discontinued in the US andthere has been few activities in related Montana forums.
The newerSV6 and Uplander shares the sameline ofV6 3.9L engine. On my 1st oil change, I was supprised to find the oil capacity is at 3.8 Litres or 4 qts as themanual stated. Othersmaller sedansI had before hold about5 qts.
So the lesser amount of oil in SV6/Uplander gets beat up more with the heat and friction in engine compartment.
I have decided to swicth to Castrol Syntec on my next oil change just to be safe.
Any comments on the low oil capacity? What is the oil capacity in the 3.5 engine?
Thanks in advance

RE: 3.9 V6 Oil Capacity
You can rest assured that GM has tested your vehicle with the recommended oil capacity and it will perform just fine. Using a quality synthetic lubricant is a plus. If your vehicle has the Oil Life indicator, keep in mind that it is calibrated for a non-synthetic oil if that is what you vehicle came with.

Steven,
I received your post via email notification. It did not have your signature but I felt like getting a response from a faithful GM employee with the language you used. Turned out I was correct.
Thanks for the assurance.
