$500.00 to repair a broken glove box door. That's obscene !! Vulgar !!
The last new GM I bought before the 2007 Uplander was a 1970 Bonneville. The only way to punish a Corp like that is wait another 37 years to buy another one...

how to replace?
I have the same problem. hinge broke. I just bought a new one off eBay.
I can't get the bottom part of the broken hinge off. It appears to be riveted on. Any good ideas on how to do it without breaking more things than necessary?
I tried just prying them off like the plastic panel clips, but no go.

Glove Box repair
These items are of poor design. Until GM issues a recall for this obvious manufactures defect any new or used gloveboxes will fail. I was able to fix the thin plastic hinge with a metal piano hinge. I have included pictures. The "inside" uses very small screws so as to not poke through the front of the door. I had to use a small stip of metal over the piano hinge so that these tiny screw heads would not go through the piano hinge. These screws are so small, they can go in without a pilot hole. On the bottom, I used machine screws #10 half inch. Here I used pilot holes. There is lots to hold on to on the bottom and 4 screws seems to do it. I did not remove any of the black plastic as that is what is holding the screws. The glove box looks as if it never broke. You would have to be on the floor to see the hinge.

I used a thin layer of heavy duty black duct tape on the hinge instead of the gorilla tape. Works well. Now I wonder though about the lock part. I think that may need replaced as door will not stay shut.
