Default What is this part?

My uplander transmission has stopped working in D and 3, but it works in R, 1 and 2.

I asked my mechanic to flush the oil to see if that fixes the problem. He opened up the pan and found a small part in it. I have attached the pictures. What piece is that? He claims that I need to replace the transmission.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks for the response. Any way to fix it without replacing/rebuilding the transmission?

yup broken band and no the only way to properly fix it would be completely disassemble and inspect everything and rebuild or replace

Instead of rebuilding the old transmission it's cheaper to replace it with a good used one.
