Default broke down. no start

hi. i have a 97 venture and went to the store today. i stayed in the van and played with the a/c while my wife shopped. she came out, as soon as i put it in reverse it stalled. and now it wont start. when i turn the key all i get is 1 click. the lights dont dim or anything and the windows go up normal so i dont think its the battery. i tried to jump the starter and all it did was throw sparks with no noise or movement. hooked up my obd scanner and didnt get any new codes and reset the one thats always there and never resets. so any ideas? something to do with the starter or maybe some kind of security issue? dont like leaving my van on the other side of town for too long. thanks!

Sounds like the starter is going bad if your kicking sparks. That or you could have a bad electrical lead going in or coming from the battery that is open or shorting.

The other thing I could say to do is check the fuse box and make sure you didn't blow out a fuse.
