Front Strut R & R? How difficult?
'02 Silhouette, 3.4, 160K. The driver's side front strut boot is visibly broken, that side of the car bounces, and it's pulling to the left.
1. How important is it to replace both struts vs. the broken one on this old van?
2. I'm mostly concerned about accessing the upper bolts if I DIY. I would buy a quick-strut complete assembly so that part isn't a problem. Those top bolts look hard to get to. What would you advise me? I have basic skills, typical wrenches and extensions. Mostly I've done my own brakes and minor suspension work.
I'm seeing $500 for PARTS and 3.7 hrs labor on line.... the quick struts are under $200 with a rebate at Rock Auto. Yikes.
