Default S i r coil

While changing the Steering rack on my 2000 Venture.
I had the steering wheel turn .
At most one revolution . I forgot which way though !
Is there any way to know for sure if that amount would be critical to its operation.
Or is there a way to center the S I R without removing the steering wheel ?
As I have no experience with SIR coils other than they should be centered

Yes and no without experience it would be hard to do it without removing the wheel. If you turn wheel very slowly you can actually feel when the clock spring is wound tight tin either direction. Turn it oneway until you fell it then count how many turns the other until you feel it. Split the difference. Be very careful if you turn to far you need a new one. Might be better to remove the wheel.

Thanks for that advise ! I'm well rounded in wrenching , just never fooled with one of these . Also I do have the factory service manual's for the car . But they only explain how to install a new one .
I'd rather be safe than sorry . So if you could make it more clear than the book I will remove the wheel . As I'm in no rush on this job.

Slow & Easy With attention to detail !
Contrary to the 2000 shop manual . The steering wheel air bag .
Did not come off with the twist of a screwdriver.
Rather is was attached with two T30 Torx bolts.
Along with the change of a Steering Rack . I also installed ,
Monroe Quick Struts . KYB rear shocks .
New motor and transmission mounts .
Moog ,Tie Rod ends and Lower Ball Joints .
Oh and PS ! Contrary to belief . They can EXPLODE when heat is applied !!
A good drill is the preferred method to remove the pesky rivets .
Fortunately I'm here to tell you all that ! Google Myth Busters on that one !
