Gorgeous Two-Tone C10 ‘Moon Pie’ Travels Through Tennessee
Here’s a relaxing YouTube video with a nice guy, a nice truck, and some nice scenery to brighten up your day.
Some things just make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. A hug from Mom. Petting a dog. An ice cream on a hot summer day. A clean, two-tone C10 squarebody laying frame with a healthy V8 under the hood.
In this YouTube video from Primered is best, we get to meet “Moon Pie,” a beautiful brown and beige ’84 Chevy C10. It’s tastefully lowered, but clearly very original. Apparently, it drives just as good as it looks, as the owner states “It’s smooth as silk, and drives like a Cadillac.” When Moon Pie arrives at the shop, it’s clearly in good company. It’s parked at the end of a long row of nice C10s that are at the shop for work.
The shop, dubbed Gas Axe Chop Shop, specializes in custom metalwork. In addition to restoring trucks like these, Gas Axe also builds hot rods and custom motorcycles. Gas Axe Chop Shop is located in Ten Mile, Tennessee. On his way to the shop, Primered is best keeps the camera rolling, allowing us a glimpse of the beautiful scenery in this region.
Ten Mile is east of Nashville, between Knoxville and Chattanooga. You didn’t need to know this information, it’s just really fun to type the words “Knoxville” and “Chattanooga.”
Nipping Problems in the Bud
In this video, it’s getting treated fresh rockers and cab corners. However, a Southerner’s definition of terminal rust is much different than mine. They call where I live “The Rust Belt,” so I’d probably let it ride for a few more years. There’s just a few small pinholes in the rocker and cab corner that we can see.
In all seriousness, it’s smart to address it now before it gets worse. Besides the rockers and cab corners, there’s a crease in the bed on the driver’s side. Since it’s an original paint truck, he doesn’t want to get too deep in body work, but the shop will do their best to straighten it out. The floor pans and frame of this truck are as clean as can be. In fact, the paint could probably look close to new with some careful buffing to remove oxidation.
We’re eager to see how Moon Pie turns out. We’re a big fan of sympathetic restorations like this. When a truck is in original condition, it’s nice to see that originality preserved. We’re definitely going to follow along with this build, and we suggest that you do, too.
