Discontinued parts... what to do???
So I have a 98 Chevy K1500 with 241.xxx miles on it. I went for state inspection in Nov 2016 and was told that the E-Brake cable will needed to be replaced, BUT Chevy has discontinued it and there is no replacement. I was passed because one side was working, a grey area on my part, it is working to a point. I have search for the parts every where and there is nothing. I was told it will not pass inspection next year with the e-brake in the same condition. the truck runs great, starts right up, it does have some rust, but it has been addressed.
So what do I do, Junk the truck in Nov 2017 just because the e-brake doesn't work??? Does anyone know if another year e-brake cable will work? I love this truck and don't want to part with it. Plus I don;t have a vehicle payment and looking at the cost of new trucks, don't want a HUGE payment. |
