K2500 tire size

Hi, wondering if anyone knows the largest tire you can put on 1994 Silverado k2500 reg cab.
I have 245/75/16's (6 lugs) but would like a bit more rubber for towing.

Considering the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac or similar but wondering how big I can go without a lift.

Anyone got numbers?

Thanks,

Ian

265 75 16 have worked without rubbing on all the k2500's I've had. FYI bigger tires are going to hurt towing more than help.

Thanks burnhedge!

I tow < 10miles and deal with steep boat ramps so figured more rubber= more grip.
No real idea myself - am I just plain wrong there?

Also ,will 265's work on my standard rims or would I need new (wider) ones? - Again, total novice here!

Thanks again,
Ian

Generally speaking wider tire will give you better grip. I have 265 70 17 on my 97 (stock 2010 rims)

Just remember that a larger diameter tire will essentially give you a higher gear ratio. Some six lug 2500's had 3:42 if I remember right. Not real desirable for towing to begin with. As 97z71 said you may be able to go wider. I'd talk to a good tire shop to see what width will work with you rims.
