I have a 95 k2500 with a 4l60e which only has 1-3. Bought new Gen IV 454. And bought a was told a nv4500 out of a Cheyenne 3500hd diesel. Trying to find out what all I need to change other than the input shaft, output shaft and casing to make this work with my motor. The Silverado/Sierra forum was bout as helpful as building a house out of mud in the rain. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. And thanks for letting me join.

An NV4500 is a manual transmission. If you had a 4l60e automatic transmission in your K2500, then you are going to be doing lots of work, adapating your K2500 to work with a stick-shift.Adding clutch/clutch fluid reservoir, flywheel/clutch/hydraulic throwout bearing, wiring for the clutch pedal, cutting the floorboard for the stick and boot, ect.

Am I understanding you correctly on this matter?

Yes, already knew that. Sick and tired of $100 a week for gas. And it will be what I want not what Chevy offered. And will be able to work on it myself as there won't be computer issues.

Entirely different. The 1995 K2500 is OBD I to start with,.The 1996 7.4 L is OBDII. The electonics for an automatic to manual setup will be interesting too As well as the 454/7.4L being a notorious gas hog, stick or auto. It will be a miracle if it makes 15 MPG hwy.and with only.290 HP to boot. Good project car, but that all that it is.

It's going to be a total rebuild. And the nv4500 was out of a c3500 Cheyenne. The 454 will be putting out more than 300 later will be way more. Not getting 15 mpg now. Only run 55 on the highway and keep a eye on the gauge. Probably only getting 8 mpg as only have 1-3.
