Knocking noise when turning

I have a 2010 Silverado. When I turn sharp at low speeds there is a knock that comes from under the hood that I can feel in the steering wheel. It has been doing that for a couple months. Tonight as I was backing out of my driveway with the wheel turned very sharp there was a very loud knock (different than usual). After that happened my steering wheel was crooked but my alignment remained straight and now the normal knocking noise only happens %25 a often as usual. Any ideas? I’ve read that it could be the steering shaft or cv joints?

Sounds like a front axle issue to me assuming its a K-4WD model Silverado pickup. Whatever the issue is, it wont get any better with time.

I noticed my 2013 Silverado LS 2WD started making that knocking sound also. I notice it at lower speeds, and only when I turn the wheels to the left. The knocking varies with the speed of the truck. And sounds to be coming from the left side. So far I don't feel it in the steering wheel. I'm not sure exactly when it started. Because I only notice it when the window is open.
