2004 ASTRO Won't Stay Running
 

Hello,

I have a 2004 Astro that I bought used a little over year ago. It's always run pretty good although with a low idle. I never had any stalling issues or anything like that. I let it sit for about 3 weeks this winter and it'when I went to start it up it started right up but now the idle is very very low and it keeps shutting off. I'm able to start it and get it down the road but as soon as I slow down for a turn or stop the engine stalls or shuts off. There is no engine light coming on at this point and I was thinking maybe the mass airflow sensor has an issue. I disconnected the wiring harness from the sensor and I can start the van even with it unplugged and it runs the same. Before I start replacing components I wanted to get some feedback from somebody as to whether I'm looking at the right area concerning the mass airflow sensor or maybe it might be another issue. Any input would be appreciated.

You could try cleaning out the idle air control unit.

That's a good idea! I'll check that. I guess I should look closely at some of the vacuum lines and see if there's any leaks as well.
