Default Radio to navigation upgrade

Hey I own a 2012 silverado crew cab ltz and I want to upgrade the stock radio for a in dash navigation screen. I bought one off a guy online, hey said it would work. I then took it to the gm dealer and after an hour with the truck he said it would't work cause of software and it is only good for an early model 2011 avalanche or Tahoe.

Is there any thing I can do with this like reprogram or something?

you need to find someone that unlocks the radio and reprograms the radio to your system check your glove box the radio code is there and see if it match to the unit you purchase, if not it will need to be reprogram,
unlocks removes the old vehicle vin number and add your vin number

reprogram, is for the audio options in case you have bose or the vehicle configuration

I know a company called Navrepair.com unlocks and does VIN to radio programming. I've used them in the past when changing out factory units.

You only need the VIN to see what options a vehicle is equipped with.
